I migrated this site from Hugo to Zine and added this Devlog, which I thought was a neat idea based on this blog post.
I started out using Jekyll, but honestly I never understood how to work with Ruby or the ins and outs of Jekyll itself. The only reason to use it was that it felt practically required by GitHub Pages. Then I found Hugo, which seemed a bit more my speed. But even Hugo was confusing to me, and I don’t spend enough time writing here to make learning it worth my while. Zine seems to be a lot simpler, with some cool new ideas, and since it’s still in Alpha it could be something to help build, too.
Not having access to pre-built templates means that I get to re-learn CSS again, which
is kind of fun and also tedious at the same time. I’m hopeful that I can figure out how to get equation rendering (LaTeX, MathJax, whatever) working, but that’s for another day.
